BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Wiratni Budhijanto completed her bachelor (1996) and master (1999) of engineering in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia. Her doctoral degree (2003) was earned in the Chemical Engineering Department, West Virginia University, USA. She took practical training in bioprocess engineering research as a visiting researcher in the Bioreaction Engineering Laboratory, West Virginia University USA and the Department of Biological and Environmental Engineering, Cornell University USA. She is currently specializing in bioprocess engineering, especially in the area of bioreactor design, biorenewable chemicals/materials production, and wastewater treatment technology.

Her scientific reputation has been marked with several awards, such as the L’OREAL-UNESCO National Fellowship for Women in Science (2007), Schlumberger’s Faculty for the Future Fellowship (2009), the best research-based community service from UGM (2011), the best research-based appropriate technology application from UGM (2013), ASEAN-US Science and Technology Fellowship (sponsored by USAID) in 2015, UGM Best Faculty Award for Science and Technology (2017), and the finalist for the national best faculty award in Science and Technology from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (2018).
