BIOGRAPHY
Panut Mulyono is one of the professors in the Chemical Engineering Department, Universitas Gadjah Mada. He holds a bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering (1986) from Universitas Gadjah Mada and became the assistant lecturer there. He completed his Master of Engineering (1990) and Doctor of Engineering (1993) degrees from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan, with “Concentration Difference Heat Pump Using Fusion and Freezing Processes” as his doctoral dissertation. Prof. Panut returned to UGM and served as a lecturer after six years pursuing his education in Japan. He teaches across the Chemical Engineering undergraduate’s program, including Analysis and Optimization of Chemical Engineering Systems, Engineering Economics, Energy Management and Conservation, and Advanced Mathematical Analysis.

He was awarded as “Outstanding Lecturer I” from Faculty of Engineering UGM in 1996, Satyalencana Karya Satya XX award from the President of the Republic Indonesia in 2012, a 25 Years of Service award from Rector of UGM in 2013, granted Honoris Causa doctorate (Dr. H.C) in education by hanseo University, Korea and Dwija Widya Abiyasa honorary title by Darma Persada University, Jakarta in 2018. Later, he also earned the status of ASEAN Engineer from ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations (AFEO) in 2019 and the winner of Academic Leader Award 2019 in the category of Lecturer with Additional Duties as Rector of Legal Entity State University. He held a number of positions at UGM and currently he was trusted as Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada for the term of office 2017-2022.

Prof. Panut has published over 67 scientific papers both in national and international areas and written several books. Most of his works were related to extraction of precious substances from indonesian plants, extraction of metal elements from Indonesian mineral substances, and renewable energies. His research interest is broadly concerned with the heat and mass transfer, thermal energy storage, energy management and conservation, and engineering economics.
